Port Saint Laurent is a fine black marble threaded with warm veins of gold and amber that stand out vividly against its dark body. It sits equally at home in a classic or a contemporary setting, and it is one of the most striking stones in our ashtray range.
A black stone with gold and amber veining
The body of the stone is a deep, quiet black, and the veining runs through it in warm gold and amber, sometimes as fine lines and sometimes as bold, branching strokes. Because the veins fall differently in every block, the pattern of each ashtray is its own. Under a single warm light the gold seems to glow from within the stone, so it is a piece that rewards a place where it can catch the light: a desk, a side table or a bar top.
Split by hand, finished by hand
The bowl is cut on a CNC and the outer edge is then split by hand, the same way the old stonemasons worked, so the raw, quarry-cut face is left exposed against the polished hollow. No two pieces break the same way, which makes each ashtray genuinely one of a kind. Every finishing pass after the cut is done entirely by hand.
Built for the cigar
The design gives particular attention to stability and to a wide, deep bowl, ideal for Cuban cigars and their long ash. At 2.5 kg it stays planted on the table, and the broad rests hold a cigar securely between draws. Setting it with other pieces
The black and gold palette works naturally beside our other dark stones. It pairs well with a Nero Marquina ashtray for contrast between gold and white veining, with a Diamond humidor in Nero Marquina or Nero Portoro, and with a marble table lighter in a matching tone.
Care
Clean the marble with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently, and on Port Saint Laurent the damage shows most on the gold veining.

Frequently asked questions
What is Port Saint Laurent marble?
Port Saint Laurent is a black marble crossed by veins of gold and amber. Each ashtray is cut from solid stone and finished by hand.
How is it different from Nero Marquina?
Nero Marquina is a deep black marble with bright white veins. Port Saint Laurent is also black, but its veining is warm gold and amber, so the two have a very different character.
Is this ashtray made for cigars?
Yes. The bowl and the rests are proportioned for cigars rather than cigarettes.
Is marble safe with hot cigar ash?
Yes. Solid marble tolerates the heat of resting ash. Simply avoid placing an open flame directly on the stone.
Will it look exactly like the photos?
No. Each piece is cut from natural Port Saint Laurent marble, so veining and tone vary. No two are ever alike.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a soft dry cloth after use. For deeper cleaning use a slightly damp microfibre and dry immediately, and avoid acidic or abrasive products.
Is there a larger size?
Yes. A larger Port Saint Laurent ashtray is available as a separate model, and its page shows current availability.
Is it handmade in Italy?
Yes. Each piece is machined from solid stone and hand-finished in Italy.
